Know how some CDs or DVDs automatically present you with a menu when you put them in? If you ever wanted to be able to do that for your own discs, then you need to check the KL Soft-developed application AutoPlay Express. With this user friendly tool you will be able to create visually appealing autoplay menus for your CDs and DVDs.

The AutoPlay Express installation file is 5.2MB in size, so it shouldn’t take long for the download to complete on a high-speed internet connection. Clicking through the setup wizard to install the application will not take long either; you can install AutoPlay Express on anything from Windows 95 onward. During the installation process you will get to pick the installation directory and choose if you want an AutoPlay Express shortcut on your desktop.

When you launch AutoPlay Express, you are presented with the Project Examples window by default. From this window you can choose to start a new project, or you can load one of several sample projects. These sample projects will give you an idea of what you can do with the AutoPlay Express application.

The interface is pretty much everything you would expect from an application of this sort. The large pane in the middle presents the project you’re working on; to the left and at the top there are buttons for various functions; there’s a traditional File Menu in the upper left hand side, and a Properties pane to the right.

Via this user friendly interface you have access to all the functionality that AutoPlay Express has to offer. You can create presentations, shells, and menus that will launch automatically when a CD or DVD is inserted into the corresponding drive. This is much welcomed functionality if you want to present your products to a customer or if you want to give a friend a DVD with pics from your vacation, for example.

To create the presentation you can use your own images, Flash animations, or videos. You get to put them together in a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface, meaning that what you see while designing the presentation with AutoPlay Express is precisely what you will end up with. And speaking about that, once you’re done with your creation, AutoPlay Express lets you publish it. The application comes with a Virtual CD-ROM to let you test your creation, and an integrated CD/DVD burner to let you burn your creation onto a disc.

30 days is the amount of time you can use AutoPlay Express for free. This is more than enough time to test the application and assess if the functionality it has to offer is right for you.

Designing and publishing autoplay menus for CDs or DVDs is an easy task with the AutoPlay Express application.

Pros

There are several built-in example projects you could load and thus get a better idea of what you could achieve with the AutoPlay Express. Use this application to create presentations, shells, or menus that launch automatically when you insert a CD or DVD disc. There’s a Virtual CD-ROM to test your creation and a built-in CD/DVD burner to burn it onto a disc. AutoPlay Express provides a very nice visual experience.

Cons

Free to use for 30 days.
